Anxious Times, Unshakeable Savior
What a time we are living in 2025. With each passing day, it feels like evil is no longer hiding in the shadows. It’s out in the open. We see it in the headlines. There’s war in the middle east, and America's possible involvement has stirred deep global tension. Violent riots continue to erupt in cities across our nation. Political division is tearing communities apart. Chaos is no longer a distant threat, it’s right here, in front of us. The unrest of humanity is screaming loud and clear, not just in our country, but all over the world.
It’s hard not to feel the weight of it all. There’s so much uncertainty, so much fear in the air. You scroll through the news, and it honestly feels like the world could fall apart at any moment.
So, what does Scripture say about all this? How can we live with peace in times like these? How do we function as believers in a society that feels so unstable?
These are real questions. And I’ve heard many people in my circle asking them. Some go straight to prophecies in scripture, trying to connect every headline to a verse in the Bible. They’re looking for signs, anything to help calm their fears and make sense of what’s happening. I get it! We all want clarity, some way to feel less anxious.
But here’s the deeper question we should be asking: In what or in whom are you putting your trust? That’s where the real issue lies.
Many people, especially in Christian circles, are looking toward Israel or the Middle East as the center of their hope. They interpret every conflict or political shift as if it's the final key to unlocking the end times. But I would lovingly ask: What does the Bible teach us about where our hope should be? And who should have our full attention?
As believers, our peace doesn’t come from figuring out world events. Our peace comes from knowing that Christ reigns right now. Not just in the future, but today. He is seated at the right hand of the Father, ruling over all things.
The apostle Paul reminds us: “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:1-2, ESV).
That doesn’t mean we ignore what’s happening in the world. But it does mean we see it all through the lens of Christ’s current and complete authority. Jesus Himself said: “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, ESV). He didn’t promise a life free from trouble. He promised peace in the troubles of our lives, because He has already overcome.
When it comes to anxiety and fear, Scripture doesn’t leave us without help: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7, ESV).
We are:
Not called to panic, but to pray.
Not called to live in fear, but to fix our eyes on Jesus.
Not called to trust in nations or outcomes, but in the unshakable kingdom of God.
From a biblical perspective, we’re not waiting for Christ to begin His reign—we believe He is already reigning. According to Scripture, Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father, ruling over all things. Right now, His church is advancing, not through swords or political power, but through the preaching of the gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Yes, we are living in troubling times.
Yes, the world feels unstable.
But no, we are not called to be anxious.
We are called to trust in the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Fix your eyes on Christ. Anchor your soul in His Word. The kingdoms of this world will rise and fall, but His kingdom will never be shaken.
As we wait for Christ’s second coming, He has promised to be with us through every high and low. He will not abandon His people. ¡He is faithful!
