The Truth Revealed (Mark 8:31-9:1)

Introduction

Jesus never hid the truth about suffering, the cross, or the cost of discipleship. He clearly showed that the path to God’s Kingdom passes first through surrender and the cross.

1. The Plan of Redemption Revealed

Jesus teaches that He must suffer, die, and rise again. This was God’s sovereign plan to save His people.

Scripture had already foretold the suffering of the Messiah. Peter wanted glory without the cross, but Jesus teaches that God’s way is the cross before the crown. Any Christianity without the cross opposes God’s plan.

2. The Cost of Being a Disciple of Christ

Jesus calls everyone to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. Discipleship requires surrender and obedience. We no longer live for ourselves, but for Christ. Christ calls true disciples willing to follow Him through suffering.

3. Glory After the Cross (v. 9:1)

Jesus points toward future glory. He died for sin and rose again defeating death. The disciples would witness the power of the Kingdom in the risen Christ. After the cross comes resurrection and glory.

Conclusion

Christ spoke clearly about the cross and future glory. The path of the Kingdom passes through the cross. Following Christ is worth it because after the cross comes glory.
