The Revelation That Transforms (Mark 9:2-13)
Introduction
The Transfiguration reveals Christ’s glory and transforms the way His disciples understand, listen to, and follow Him. Truly seeing Jesus changes how we live and respond to Him.
Points
1. Christ’s glory reveals who Jesus is (vv.2-4)
In the Transfiguration, the disciples see Jesus’ divine glory. Moses and Elijah show that the Law and the Prophets point to Christ. Jesus is the glorious Son of God.
2. Listening to the Son transforms our response (vv. 5-8)
The Father declares: 'This is My beloved Son; listen to Him.' The right response is to believe, obey, and follow Christ. His voice must have greater authority than any other influence.
3. Glory does not remove suffering (vv. 9-13)
Jesus teaches that the Messiah’s glory does not remove the path of the cross. Discipleship includes suffering, but also the hope of resurrection and future glory.
Conclusion
Truly seeing Christ transforms faith and obedience. The glorious King revealed on the mountain is the same King who went to the cross to save sinners.
