Jesus Revealed. Not Understood | Mark 6:31-56
Introduction
The passage shows that seeing or hearing about Jesus is not enough. The problem is not lack of information but lack of understanding. Jesus has revealed Himself clearly, yet hearts may not truly understand Him.
1. Jesus sees our need and has compassion on us (vv. 31-34)
Jesus sees His disciples’ limits and calls them to rest. He sees the crowd as sheep without a shepherd and responds with compassion. He teaches first, showing the deepest need is spiritual. Without Him, we are lost, but He calls us to follow.
2. Jesus provides as only God can (vv. 35-44)
The crowd is hungry, and Jesus reveals His power. He multiplies food, showing divine authority. There is abundance. Christ alone satisfies the soul.
3. Jesus reveals who He is in the storm (45-52)
The disciples struggle in a storm. Jesus walks on water. He reveals His identity. They fear because they do not understand. We grow in trusting Him.
4. Jesus responds to the faith that runs to Him (vv. 53-56)
People respond quickly and come to Jesus. They bring others. Faith means coming to Him.
We are called to do the same.
Conclusion
Jesus has revealed Himself clearly. The issue is understanding. The difference is how we respond. Come to Christ.
